// Android and Me

Starting this Thursday, October 9, Verizon customers will have a new option for devices that fall in the mid to low-end of the spec and pricing spectrum. In just two days, Verizon will start selling a slightly customized version of the HTC Desire 610 called the HTC Desire 612 for free with a two year contract.

Inside the Desire 612 you'll still find a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2040 mAh battery, 4.7-inch "HD" display, 8-megapixel and 1.3-megapixel cameras, front-facing Boom Sound speakers and 8GB of expandable storage. But the shell of the device has been tweaked to Verizon's liking, AKA slathered in black and red with Verizon branding from stem to stern. The Desire 612 is also ready to take advantage of Verizon's XLTE network for faster, more reliable data.

Coming in at free with a two year contract, we can't imagine the HTC Desire 612 going for more than a couple hundred off bucks contract. The Desire 612 certainly isn't the most exciting device, but it should suit those shopping in its respective price bracket well.
